World of Coffee

Last month, I had the opportunity to represent Ceremony Coffee Roasters at the World of Coffee trade show in San Diego. San Diego is beautiful city filled with the best tacos I have ever eaten; and yes, I ate tacos every day I was there. As the name implies, World of Coffee brings together folks from all over the globe to showcase this beautiful beverage we all love so much. From new tech innovations, to cupping sessions, to meeting producers in person, and seeing many of my coffee pals across the industry, it's a sometimes overwhelming but always a fun event.

This year I wanted to focus on highlighting Ceremony's coffees, particularly our single origins, at the booths of some of our favorite partners in the industry. I brewed one of my favorite single origins so far this year, Finca La Praderita. This is a delicious washed coffee from Colombia with notes of pineapple, cane sugar, and yuzu. I am hopeful that we got more folks to try our coffee, either again or for the first time, while also learning more about what's new at some of our favorite partners like created co., Acaia, Slow Pour Supply, Algrano, and La Marzocco.

A highlight for me this year was attending a couple small events outside of the convention center that focused on women in the coffee industry, throughout the supply chain. The most impactful for me was the event hosted at Mnemonic Coffee by Bean Voyage Coffee and the Women-Power Coffee Summit. This was a fun and welcoming event, featuring 7 women from across the industry sharing stories of how they got into coffee and what they do now in the industry. The event was informative, inspiring, and validating! As a woman in this industry, it was beyond refreshing to be in a space surrounded by and commanded by so many accomplished and community-focused women.
